The Cherry Tree Project committee and supporters gathered to stuff envelopes and the first meeting of over 1,000 donation forms was sent on January 5, 2012.

TREE SELECTION
APRIL 16 2012

Kaz Abey and Jim Horner traveled nearly 700 miles to Forest Grove, Oregon to select the field grown cherry trees. Prunus Yedoensis "Akebono", a tree with a single, light pink or nearly white blossoms, with graceful branches.

The trees were in bloom with trunk sizes of 2.5-inches to 3-inches caliper measure, 12-feet from the ground. Forty trees were tagged to insure available for planting in November 2012.

Site visit to see the planted cherry trees greeting all visitors through UC Berkeley's West Gate entrance/exit. They were planted on schedule and ready to bloom for the April 06, 2013 dedication ceremony.
Construction of CTP completed.
